Lateral moraine hung steeply along nw. wall Cold Crk. canyon for 1/2 m. & spread down slope ca. 500'? from foot of cliffs (at ca. 10,400') to 11,365' pk. on Silver Divide. 6 1/2 map miles n-ne. of Edison Dam on Mono Crk.

About 3 m. w. of Benton Stat. which is 7-8 m. from the Nevada border on U.S. 6 and 7-8 m. from the 13,500' northern end of the White Mts.

Collected 1/4 mile south of Sage Hen Field Station, very wet area but it in the bog, soil nearly saturated. In down wood in deep shade of Pinus Murrayana. Associate species: Ranunclus, Equisetu, grasses, Pinus Murrayana.

At w. end (entrance) long narrow gorge leading back to large deep lake at 11,050' in great cirque w-nw flank of 12,850' Red and White Mt., Sierran crest.
