Growing in very cold shallow water and just at the edge of the glacier fork of Parker Creek on Koip Pass-Dana Fork trail in metamorphics, above timber line at 11,000 ft.

The location was four miles west of Trimmer's Spring Road on Maxon Road, where Maxon road crosses with Watts Creek. It was in a foothill woodland plant community on the north facing slope. Elevation ranged from 1200 to 1300 feet.
