Collected along Highway 14, about one mile north of the northern end of Red Rock Canyon, in the sagebrush scrub community. Soil a dry, rocky sand. This common shrub was about 1 meter tall with yellow flowers. Associated species Machaeranthera tortifolia,

Small cienega; above Muir Trail (not noticeable from Trail) where Trail crosses a rill n. across a small canyon from 10,993' knob nw. of outlet of Evolution Lake (Mt. Goddard Quad.) This sect. of canyon faces out sw. over Evol. Valley 900' below.
