At Foot of Big Table Mt. NE section, NW of Auberry Valley, 1 Mi. West Temperance Flat Rd.

Castle Lake, 5434', in a north facing cirque with an abrupt 1000' backwall; 14 miles s.w. of Mt. Shasta on n. side of a 6600' eastern spur of Trinity Mts.; 2000' above Sacramento R. within 10 air miles of its headwaters to the west.

San Joaquin R bottom about N of Fruit Ave., reached by Jeep from N Van Ness Blvd. along old promotion canal cut into the bluff face.
