From Boone Fork parking area on the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike on the Tanawa trail a short distance to junction with Nuwati trail; follow Nuwati trail all the way to Refuge camping site. Cross small stream and collection site is adjacent to stream.

From the Boone Fork parking area along the Blue Ridge Parkway, take the Tanawha trail to junction with the Nuwati trail. Follow the Nuwati trail to Storyteller's Rock and the collection site is alongside the trail on a boulder.

From the Boone Fork parking area, head uphill to Tanawha trail and head south till junction with the Nuwati trail; proceed out Nuwati trail and cross last creek before Refuge campsite; after crossing proceed upstream 0.19km to collection site.

From the Boone Fork parking area, walk up hill to Tanawha trail and head south until junction with Nuwati trail; take Nuwati trail all the way to refuge camping site, cross creek and proceed upslope 0.17km to collection site
