Caledonia State Park, along nature trail near visitor's center. Tsuga canadensis forest with Acer rubrum and Liriodendron. Understory consists of dense Rhododendron thicket 2-4m tall.

York Mtn Rd. about 1 mi from intersection with Hwy 46. Quercus agrifolia woodland with Acer macrophyllum, Umbellularia californica and Q. kelloggii. Understory of Holodiscus, Cornus, Rubus.

White Mountains. Drainage just below Patriarch Grove. Open Bristlecone Pine stand on dolomite talus. Sparse understory of Ericameria and bunch grasses.

Inyo National Forest, at Loch Leven on trail from North Lake to Paiute Pass. Along lakeshore near treeline with scattered Pinus albicaulis, Salix, sedges and cushion plants.

South of La Porte, along turnoff from La Porte Rd. to Sly Creek Dam. Mixed forest with thick shrub layer. Pseudotsuga menziesii dominant, with Calocedrus decurrens, Arbutus menziesii, Pinus ponderosa and Cornus nuttallii. Deep shade.

La Porte Rd., about four miles south of junction with Hwy 70. Pseudotsuga menziesii forest with Quercus kelloggii common. In drainage with canopy of Alnus and Acer macrophyllum.

Brooktrails, just west of Willits. Along Goose Court. Mixed evergreen forest dominated by Lithocarpus. Arbutus, Sequoia and Pseudotsuga all common. Understory of scattered Vaccinium.

Dangermond Preserve, along Jalama Road. Stand of nearly pure La Purisima Manzanita over sandstone.

Vicinity of Calf Canyon, along Hwy 229 just north of intersection with Hwy 58. Seasonal drainage in Adenostoma fasciculatum dominated chaparral. Drainage vegetation with Ceanothus spp, Quercus agrifolia, Rhus trilobata & Salix sp. Coarse granitic soil.

Eno River State Park, near Bobbit Hole. Riparian forest of Platanus, Fagus, Quercus, Liquidambar, Carya and Pinus.
