Blue Oak Ranch Reserve. High Road just uphill from the hairpin turn above intersection with Laumond's Road. North facing slope with oak savanna of Quercus kelloggii, Q. douglasii and Umbellularia. Understory of mixed native forbs and annual grasses.

Blue Oak Ranch Reserve, along road from Big Lake to Alum Rock Falls Road. East facing slope with open canopy dominated by Quercus kelloggii. Understory a dense shrub layer of Toxicodendron, Symphoricarpos albus and Baccharis.

Catoctin Mountain Park. Trail heading north from Hog Rock parking area off Park Central Road. Deciduous forest dominated by Acer, Quercus, Carya and Nyssa.

For̻t Bebour. Trail from road RF2 to Piton Bebour. Primary hygrophyllous mesothermic forest. Dense canopy with Hymenophyllaceae and other ferns abundant in understory.

York Mountain Road, off Hwy 46. Quercus agrifolia woodland with Q. kelloggii, Arbutus, Acer and Umbellularia. Understory of Toxicodendron, Symphoricarpos, Holodiscus and Clinopodium.

Santa Rita Road. Heavily wooded canyon with Quercus agrifolia, Acer and Umbellularia. Understory ofToxicodendron, Heteromeles, Symphoricarpos and Prunus.

Channel Islands: East Anacapa Island. Road between Visitor's Center and water tank structure. Coreopsis gigantea dominant with Grindelia sp and annual grasses.

Near Alpine and Bon Tempe reservoirs, between Mt. Tamalpais and Fairfax. Mosaic of grassland, Sequoia & Pseudotsuga forest and Quercus woodland. Growing on concrete reservoir spillway in full sun.

Pirates Cove, near Avila. Coastal scrub codominated by Baccharis, Leymus condensatus, Eriogonum parvifolium, Mimulus and Artemisia californica. On light colored sandstone outcrops.

White Mountains. Along White Mountain Road between County Line Mountain and the road to Silver Canyon. Craggy black metamorphic outcrops with Bristlecone Pines, Artemisisa and Ericameria.

Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area, along Cathedral Rocks Trail. Chaparral of Adenostoma, Heteromeles, Mimulus, Salvia, Ceanothus cuneatus and Baccharis. Granitic substrate.

Cal Poly Campus, Poly Canyon. Creek through serpentine woodland of Quercus agrifolia, Platanus and Umbellularia.
