Eastern Sierra west of Bishop, near South Lake, at margin of pond below the South Lake dam. Pinus contorta and Populus tremuloides forest with understory of Salix around pond margin.

Coyote Creek Trail, between San Jose and Morgan Hill, between Metcalf Road and Bailey Avenue. Tall, mature stand of Riparian forest dominated by Populues with a subcanopy of Juglans, Aesculus, Sambucus and Toxicodendron. Understory of annual grasses.
