Small openings in old field converted to pine plantation. Dry ridgetop with Danthonia spicata, Lespedeza procumbens and Cladonia. 0.15 mi SW if inters of Coles Hill Rd (St Rt 690) and Chalk Level Rd (St Rt 685). Elev ca 660 ft.

Open, brushy, poorly drained flats being reclaimed from woody succession. With Juncus effusus, Rosa palustris, Rubus, Diospyros. Ca 2.3 mi ESE of Sheva near the divide of the southern seasonal tributaries of Dry Branch.

A few colonies seen along abandoned road on ridgecrest .2 mi. S of Gabes Vinob in oak-pine-Rhododendron carawbrense-Kalmia- Galax communities (Patrick Springs Quad.)
