Growing among grasses in splash zone under large rock overhang over which small stream flows; southwest-facing. Hillside has been clear-cut within last 2 years. Located just east of Toxaway Creek; 1/2 mile south of County Road 88.

Along south-western border of Dry Bay, a Carolina bay on the Savannah River Plant. Bay about 0.1 miles north of the junction of SRP-A2 and SC highway 125.
