Abundant in open scrub oak woodland with only an occasional relatively small Pinus palustris on sandhill.

Buena Vista Landing, Lake Seminole, on mesic slope in public use area bordering lake. Inflorescence spicate, lowermost spikes subdistant; perigynia 3-3.5mm long; this specimen differs from the typical in that the sheaths are cross-rugulose ventrally.

Numerous clumps of plants beneath live oak tree, between the Persimmon field and Van Brunt Arm, Tall Timbers Research Station.
