Largee shrub(3 or 4 seen), height 2+m, on beech-magnolia slope by Harvey Creek, E side of creek side, off S side of SR-20 W of Tallahassee. NE 1/4 of SW 1/4 , NE 1/4 Sec 8, T1S R3W. Duplicate at Tall Timbers Research Station.

Locally abundant in powerline transect across pine-hardwood forest, lime rock close to the soil surface, at Wakulla Station.

Big Woods, Greenwood Plantation, adjoining city limits of Thomasville along Boulevard between U.S. 84 and railroad. Annually burned pineland, mostly longleaf. Well drained upland. Burned 2nd week in April.

In wet woodland with nearly full shade, At bayside Development, and in Sec. 33 T1N R29W, by western end of Mulatto Bayou. Plants growing in sofft wet much on banks of meandering small stream, their stems flat on the substrate.

About 3 mi S Willacoochee, Atkinson Co., Ga. Near State Highway 135, N side of Alapaha River. Low ground near borrow pit and swamp forest.

In places of windblown shifting sands, Dog Island. Stems creeping, rooting at nodes, sands build up around them, a plant often 2-3 m across.
