Wet ditch draining pine flatwoods, 2 miles from Newport on the Lighthouse Road.

In shallow water, depression in pine flatwoods, 3/4 mile S of Georgia Pacific Plant, S of Vienna by U.S. Rt. 41.

Culms slender and weak, rooting at the nodes, the tipserect; sandy alluvium below a four-lane bridge where abundant, headwaters of the St. marks River, E of Tallahassee.

Not clump-forming. Stems arising through clumps of wiregrass, Juncus. Open bog with soft mucky substrate, standing surface water; Apalachicola National Forest, between Sumatra and Wright Lake.

Wet savanna, Grand Bay, Apalachicola National Forest: from Fla. Rt. 20, S on Fla. Rt. 375 to forest road 320, then to the E 1 mile, then through longleaf pine to the leaft to and through a narrow band of bay-thicket to the savanna.

On banks of salt marsh, by road from U.S. Rt. 98 leading to Hickory Mound, 9 miles S of Rt. 98- at point where road turns abruply W across marsh. Flowering specimen (RKG 81833) from same tree.

In small mats on wet peaty-sandy soil at margin of clearing of wet woodland, 4 miles N of Steinhachee.

Seedlings collected in area between plots one and two. All are large seedling and all are 4 yrs old. Area on springhill burned March 1968. Size of 4 yr seedlings varies considerably from area to area.

Infrequent in semi-shade of mature longleaf pine-wiregrass stand (frequently burned) at Wade Tract of Tall Timbers Research, Inc.; 3.1 mi S of highway 319 on rte 122 (toward Metcalf), then W 0.6 mi on dirt road, then S another 0.6 mi in the tract.

Growing over shrubs in wet woodland (at it's edge) close to Wacissa Springs at public use area, just at dead-end of road beyond Wacissa. Plant staminate. Climbing by bending of petiole or leaf rachis or by that completely encircling some twig.

Frequent in mixed pine-hardwood forest, upland, Booster Club area, Lake Seminole, ca 3 miles N of Chattahoochee, Fla.
