Abundant in shallow water of an old borrow pit in flatwoods. Apalachicola National Forest, by Co. rd 65, ca 5 miles N of Sumatra.

Frequent on sunny edges of ephemeral ponds and coastal palm-oak hammock, along "N Fence Rd.," Econfina River Tract (DNR-administered), W off C.R. 14, S of U.S. 98. N edge of Sec 3, T5s R4E.

Specimen from plant ca 25 stems from the base, these to 5 m tall; bark of lower trunks rough-warty-blocky. Gum-myrtle holly pond, Morgan pond, at int of Fla Rt 269 and 270a, S of Chattahoochee.

Medium-sized tree. Open oak-hickory woodlan, just inside entrance gate. Florida Caverns State Park.
