Small tree, abundant in a thick mixed stand of oaks where cler-cut of longleaf pine some years earlier, between Chiefland and Suwannee River.

Plant ca 15 m tall. In a slight depression in upland mixed pine hardwood, Tall Timbers Research Station, to N of Fla. Rt. 12, near the road that more or less parallels the northern boundary of the Station. Sheet 2 of 2.

Wiregrass bog, about 6 mi S of Sneads. Flowers open at night, corollas drop about midmorning. Corollas white, mostly with faint lavender pink lines above the sinuses on the inner surface.

St. Catherines Island. North Pasture; along road from Gator Pond toward North Beach. Full sun, sandy soil. Longleaf pine savannah, freshly burned.

Big Woods, Greenwood Plantation, adjoining city limits of Thomasville along Boulevard between U.S. 84 and railroad. Annually burned pineland, mostly longleaf. Well drained upland. Frequent, scattered.

On exposed shores of Apalachicola River (after low water level for considerable period), at Chattahoochee. Substrate more or less calcareous with borken limerock and mollusk shells.

By Co. rd. 271, 1.6 miles from Co. rd 12, between rd 12 and Telogia Creek, slash pine plantation, sand ridge. Young leaves usually glaucous, old leaves grayish, lax and "floppy". Fully grown leaves 50-80cm long.
